Welcome, Kelsie Kiley and Marcus Cox, Media and Entertainment Industry Specialists!

The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development recently added two new Media and Entertainment Industry Specialists to our staff, Kelsie Kiley and Marcus Cox. They are based in Los Angeles and will be preparing students for careers in this space.

Kelsie Kiley got her start on the Lionsgate Film THEY CAME TOGETHER. Shortly thereafter, she became the fourth member of the groundbreaking production company Jax Media (jaxmedia.com), where she served as a producer and/or executive on all Jax Media projects. She currently runs Starrpix, Inc. a new production company that she recently founded with Comedian Ilana Glazer. She is also currently serving as an Executive Producer on Glazer’s premier stand up special for Amazon Prime Video. Previously, she worked as a Co-Executive Producer on Comedy Central’s BROAD CITY and a producer on BERLIN, a film directed by Stephen Dunn and written by Lewaa Nasserdeen. A few of her additional credits include: Co-Producer on NOBODIES (TV land), Associate Producer on YOUNGER (TV Land), ROSEANNE (ABC), THE CONNERS (ABC), I LOVE YOU, DADDY, INSIDE AMY SCHUMER (Comedy Central), A VERY MURRAY CHRISTMAS (Netflix), and AMY SCHUMER: LIVE AT THE APOLLO (HBO). Kelsie graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Film, Television and Theatre. She is a member of the Producers Guild of America, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and New York Women in Film and Television. She is a two time Primetime-Emmy nominee who supposedly lives in Los Angeles, but keeps creating projects based in New York City.
 
Marcus Cox

Marcus Peace Cox is a writer/director and Independent Spirit nominated and Gotham Award winning producer.  His films have played prestigious film festivals including; SXSW, LAFF, Tribeca, Rome, Deauville, Toronto and Sundance.  He founded Through Films with wife, Karrie Cox, in 2008.  The company strives to produce meaningful motion pictures that captivate, influence and entertain audiences. 
 
His tenure at Through Films includes the development, production and distribution of projects such as: Kill or Be Killed, Adult Beginners, KICKS and Sean Baker’s Tangerine.  Marcus recently produced the drama Dark Was the Night, starring Marisa Tomei, Charlie Plummer, Timothy Olyphant and Mireille Enos, which was acquired by SP Releasing and Michael Tully’s psychological thriller, Don’t Leave Home, which premiered at SXSW and was acquired by Good Deed and Shudder.  Through Films has a diverse slate, with several film and television projects in development.
 
Marcus was born and raised in Austin, Texas and spent much of his youth outside with fossils and fire ants.  Storytelling has always been a way for Marcus to connect with people and bring them together.  He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
