Here at the Meruelo Center for Career Development, we offer two sessions to prepare students for the upcoming Fall Career Fair. Why are these prep events so important? To find out, I consulted Career Counselor Anita Rees.
Anita emphasizes that these events will allow you to present yourself the way you want to be seen by employers. With a short session under your belt, you can professionally, confidently, and clearly translate your skills and experiences to employers. While this may seem simple enough, a little help can go a long way.
“These prep events are like a map.” Anita explains. “You are embarking on something you may not have experienced before. The more prepared you are, the better off you’ll be.”
Both events offered this week are similar, so pick the one that fits better in your busy schedule!
This year’s Career Prep Events are Tuesday, September 10th from 5:00pm-6:00pm, and Wednesday, September 11th from 6:00-7:00pm. Both will be held in 141 DeBartolo.
The Center for Career Development also has walk-ins every Monday-Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm if you would like more personalized advice from a career counselor, and from 4:00-7:00pm to meet with experienced students.
The Fall Career Fair will be Tuesday, September 17th from 4:00-8:00pm in the Joyce Center Fieldhouse.
