Summer Experience Resources
Learn about summer experiences from ND students
Some of the most interesting internships, research, and service experiences have been secured by your fellow students. We've created two, unique resources to help you learn about how to make your summer experience meaningful.
Both resources utilize Notre Dame's Tableau server technology and can be accessed with single sign-on using your netID and password. Questions about these resources can be directed to careerdevelopment@nd.edu.
Ask students about their experiences
The 2023 Summer Experience Student Networking Directory is an interactive, password-protected online database tool which features:
- 1,400+ sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have opted into including their name and email address associated with their summer experiences. Students can use the directory to conveniently email classmates and ask questions about their experiences.
- Filters which allow students to find experiences reported by students by class year, college, major, experience type, organization, type of work, state, city, and country.

Get ideas for summer experiences
The 2021-2023 Summer Experience Database is an interactive, password-protected online database tool which features:
- 6,000+ previous summer experiences (internships, research, and other experiences) reported by sophomores, juniors, and seniors over the summers of 2021, 2022, and 2023.
- Filters which allow students to find experiences reported by class year, college, major, experience type, organization, type of work, state, city, and country. This database does not include the names of students.
Funding available to pursue unpaid and low-paying summer experiences
We want to ensure every Notre Dame student is financially able to participate in at least one summer experience. We recognize that some internships and research experiences are located in high cost cities or may be with organizations that offer unpaid experiences or do not provide enough financial support to cover your summer living expenses. Thanks to the generous contributions of Notre Dame benefactors, we have established the Summer Experience Fund.
