Executive in Residence
The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development (CCD) is excited to announce the return of our CCD Executive in Residence program for Spring 2026.
This program offers Notre Dame students the opportunity to meet with successful alumni and other professionals, gain insight about how to build a network, discern meaningful careers, and create strategies to pursue your career aspirations.
- Dave Hemler has experience leading large enterprises, including Microsoft Canada and Best Buy for Business, and has founded, led, and invested in several small technology companies. See Dave's bio and availability.
- Deacon Mike Forbes has expertise in both government and religious service, having held political office and worked as a diocesan administrator. See Deacon Mike's bio and availability.
- Susan Jhin's experience spans international marketing with GlaxoSmithKline, mobilizing the Houston Korean-American community for various initiatives, raising funds for the Texas Asia Society, and curating cultural programs for organizations such as the Children’s Museum of Houston and KoreanAmericanStory.org. Appointments take place on the 5th floor of Duncan Student Center. To maximize access for the most students, please limit to one meeting.
Former Microsoft and Best Buy executive Dave Hemler will conduct office hours for interested students for 2 hours each Tuesday & Friday during the fall semester.
David Hemler is an accomplished business leader with success leading organizations both large and small. His large enterprise experience includes roles as President of Microsoft Canada and President of Best Buy for Business, and he founded, led, and invested in several small technology companies after getting bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. David holds a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He can speak with students about business management, navigating organizations, entrepreneurship, and career advice.
Mr. Hemler will offer two 45-minute appointments with students on Tuesdays and Fridays. Appointments can be scheduled below.
SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DAVE HEMLER
Deacon Michael P. Forbes, known as Deacon Mike Forbes, has advanced degrees in canon law (University of Ottawa and St. Paul University) and bioethics (University of Mary). He was elected and served three (3) terms in the U.S. House representing the 1st District of New York. In Congress, he served on the House Appropriations, Small Business, Banking, and Energy and Commerce Committees. In addition to his Congressional service, he has extensive experience working in the federal government. Mike was ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in 2013. He served as Vice Chancellor of the Diocese of Austin, TX where he oversaw 250+ deacons, served as legal counsel to the Bishop, and was responsible for administering matters under the Chancellor's direction. As an example, Deacon Forbes was responsible for the Red Mass - the official opening of the judicial year - and was able to secure Justice Amy Coney Barrett as the official speaker for the event. Recently, he participated in the University of Notre Dame's Inspired Leadership Initiative (ILI) Fellowship from 2023-25.
He can speak with students about running for political office, workings of Congress and the federal government, canon law, bioethics, and Diocesan offices.

Susan Jhin has found her passion in accompanying students on their journey, coaching student mentors on their Stories of Grace with ND Vision, and most recently, serving on the ND Campus Ministry team as the Interim Coordinator for Multicultural Student Ministry.
Susan’s experience spans international marketing with GlaxoSmithKline, mobilizing the Houston Korean-American community for various initiatives, raising funds for the Texas Asia Society, and curating cultural programs for organizations such as the Children’s Museum of Houston and KoreanAmericanStory.org. Susan also worked as an interpreter and mediator at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics in South Korea, supporting global cultural and diplomatic exchange.
Susan holds a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. At Yale, she served on the admissions committee, gaining a deep understanding of what the committee looks for in an MBA applicant.
Susan can speak to students about international marketing, non-profits, spiritual journey, and how to thrive in and balance life.
Susan is preliminarily available for just one 45-minute appointment with students on Friday mornings. Appointments can be scheduled below.
