Annual Surveys
Each year, undergraduate students are invited to complete online questionnaires that help the Center for Career Development better support their career development. These surveys give us valuable insight into students' summer experiences, career interests, challenges, and post-graduation plans, while also helping us improve our services and resources. By sharing results in aggregate form, we can support students, inform campus partners, and strengthen career development efforts across campus.
Summer Experience Survey
Administered in August/early September, all sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to complete the Summer Experience Survey.
The survey is used in these ways:
- Provide information to students looking for internships and other summer experiences. Responses are aggregated so we can share these results in the Summer Experience Database, a password-protected web-based report. The database allows students to learn about summer experiences using filters such as: major, employer, type of experience, and location. First-years and sophomores often cite this was one of the most
- Help us identify employers which hired students for internships so we can encourage them to recruit more students. If you had a great experience with an employer that we may consider building a recruiting relationship with in the future.
- Understand the barriers students encountered this past summer so we can provide advice and guidance on how to continue your career planning.
- Share aggregate information with campus partners so they can learn about student interests and experiences.
- Identify how we can help with your career development.
Summer experience responses are shared with academic deans and faculty leaders so that the CCD can work collaboratively to improve how we serve our students. While we will share aggregate and summary statistics on our website, no personal identifiable information will be shared publicly.
Annual Career Development Check-In
This interactive questionnaire launches in the spring semester (typically around Spring Break).
The survey is used in these ways:
- Identify how we can help with your career development.
- Learn about your interests so that we can share information that is tailored to your career interests.
- Help us identify employers that interest students.
- Understand the barriers students encounter so that we can adapt our service model.
- Learn about student use of AI tools for career development.
- Share aggregate information with campus partners so they can learn about student interests and experiences.
- Identify how we can help with your career development.
Check-in results are shared with academic deans and faculty leaders so that the CCD can work collaboratively to improve how we serve our students.
First Destination Survey
Graduating seniors are sent the First Destination Survey in mid-April and continuing through Commencement. This required survey, also known as a "career outcomes survey" provides us insights into where graduating seniors are starting their careers.
We publicly report aggregate data on our website.
